Our Privacy-First Approach

AnnotateFast is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your annotations and data stay in YOUR browser. We do not collect, store, or process your personal information on our servers.

Data Storage and Processing

What We Store in Your Browser (IndexedDB)

•Annotation history: Your past annotations, thumbnails, and canvas states
•User preferences: Dark mode, tool settings, UI preferences
•Local only: All this data lives exclusively in your browser's IndexedDB storage
•Your control: You can export, delete, or clear this data anytime

What We Don't Collect

✗No user accounts or authentication
✗No personal information (name, email, etc.)
✗No tracking cookies or analytics
✗No behavioral tracking
✗No server-side user databases

Shareable Links (Optional Feature)

When you explicitly create a shareable link:

•What's shared: The annotated screenshot image only
•Storage: Cloudflare R2 (S3-compatible object storage)
•Retention: Images expire after 24-168 hours (configurable)
•No metadata: We don't store information about who created the link
•Opt-in only: This only happens when you click "Create Shareable Link"

URL Parameters

When you share an annotation:

•Canvas state is encoded in the URL parameter (client-side only)
•No server-side processing of canvas state
•Recipients can restore and edit annotations from the URL
•No databases involved in state sharing

Third-Party Services

Cloudflare R2

Purpose:: Storage for shareable link images only
Data sent:: Screenshot images you explicitly choose to share
Retention:: 24-168 hours (temporary storage)
Location:: Cloudflare's global network
Privacy:: No PII or user metadata sent

Vercel (Hosting)

Purpose:: Web application hosting
Data:: Standard web server logs (IP, user agent, request URLs)
Retention:: Per Vercel's standard policies
Privacy:: No custom analytics or tracking implemented

Your Rights and Controls

Data Export

Export your complete annotation history as JSON from the History panel. Take your data anywhere, anytime.

Data Deletion

Clear your history directly in the app (Settings > Clear History). Or clear your browser's IndexedDB storage manually.

Browser Controls

All data is in YOUR browser's IndexedDB. Standard browser privacy controls apply. Use incognito/private mode for no history storage.

Children's Privacy

AnnotateFast does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Since we don't collect any personal information, no special procedures are required.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The effective date will always be shown at the top.
